What can we help you find?

Why choose a career in this sector?

Sector opportunity

The health and science sector is growing rapidly – in July 2021 there were 24,32 vacancies in the NHS alone. New opportunities will continue to emerge, and there are rewarding roles to suit all skills and abilities. You’ll make a positive difference every day to those who need your help the most.

You can work in a variety of fast-paced environments, from prisons to schools, the Armed Forces to the NHS or private sector companies.

These are just a few of the roles you could progress to in the health and science sector:

  • Dental technician
  • Healthcare science professional
  • Optical assistant
  • Midwife
  • Nurse
  • Pharmacy technician
  • Hygiene specialist

Plus, there are currently 350 roles within these disciplines that allow learners to develop new skills and progress. Career progression doesn’t have to mean rising through the ranks in a single discipline; it can mean changing from one role to another, identifying and developing transferable skills.
